About Battle For Hope The Heather Ridley Fleeman Battle for Hope began in 2005 led by a group of committed family and friends of Heather Ridley Fleeman. Heather died in 2004 at the young age of 28 after a long battle with colon cancer. This group decided to partner with a non-profit agency serving cancer patients, specifically those with colon cancer, in Northwest Arkansas. All proceeds from the Battle for Hope benefit the cancer support and educational programs provided by Hope Cancer Resources. During her life, Heather, who was a member of the Walmart supplier community, was dedicated to supporting agencies that work to help cancer patients through treatment while at the same time looking to tomorrow by conducting state-of-the-art cancer research that is locally accessible. The Heather Ridley-Fleeman Battle for Hope is a Run/Walk event held the first Saturday in May each year at the Old Tiger Stadium site in Bentonville. This event truly has something for everyone and is great for the whole family. The Battle for Hope events include a 10k run, 5k run and walk, and 1-mile Family Fun Walk as well as races for kids aged 12 and under. Registration and check-in will open at 6:30 a.m., and activities begin at 8:00 a.m. Individual runners and walkers as well as teams are encouraged to participate. Sponsorships and volunteer positions are available as well. Hope Cancer Resources The mission of Hope Cancer Resources is to provide compassionate, professional cancer support and education to the Northwest Arkansas region today and tomorrow.
